Gearing Hints?

Post by Ian Armstrong » Tue Sep 25, 2007 1:38 pm

Any helpful gearing hints for the new track size? Since the full track will not be open before the next race, do people want to share their Leopard gearing? What RPMs did you hit on the straight? I'll be starting with a 10 driver and 80 sprocket (125cc Easykart, trying to keep revs around 15.5 or 15.6k).

Thanks for any help. Oct 7th will be my first race!

I threw on a 10-83 which was left over from Austin, and it worked fine for the track going clockwise. I was revving up to 16,700. I left it on when we reversed directions, and it was way too quick. I am getting a new bottom end so I left it on for the race, but was revving up to almost 18k if I wasn't careful throttling back at the end of the strait. I think a 10-81 will do the trick both ways, especially when the track gets rubbered in.

Greg, were you running 10-83 with a Leopard?

Yeah, that was the same gearing I was running, but I need to learn some t00ning. Next time I'll rev higher than 13,500.
