New TaG Tire Rules Effective September 16th 2007

Post by Jim Garvin » Sat Sep 01, 2007 7:08 am

This is just a reminder that our new tire rules will be in effect starting September 16th. MG Yellows will no longer be allowed if you are racing for a trophy, series points, or track record. These are the spec tires you can run in TaG at Katy which aligns with TaG USA rules.

- Bridgestone YHC
- Burris B-44A
- Dunlop DCM
- MG White SLE
- Vega Green SL-6

If you have any questions please contact Jim Garvin or post a reply.

Will the Hoosier R60 be legal as approved by Tag USA for use after the Nationals?
"For Immediate Release: Effective July 28, 2007

The R60 Hoosier tire has been added to our tire line up for the 2008 season and will be legal immediately following the 2007 TAGTM World Championships.

Thank you for your support.

If the same as the 13" tire compound, great wear and performance for the budget minded racer.

Hoosier R60's ????????

Post by scott chesser » Fri Feb 01, 2008 10:26 am

Is GCKI following the TAG USA tire rules? If so, Hoosier R60's are legal, are they going to be legal at Katy this year or not?

Didn't get a response before.

Due to the surrounding track's legalization of the mg yellows, Katy has decided to return to only two spec tires...mg yellows and bridgestone yhc's though this does not follow tag usa, these tires are what the other local tracks and series run and are definately the best tires

Then Jim's original post is incorrect and needs to be edited so TAG newbies like me don't show up with illegal tires, right. I almost bought some Dunlops today because I've had good luck in the past with them.

Is there anyway to keep rule stuff like this up to date, for us racer's benefit.

thanks

Scott

Scott,
My original post was for the 2nd half of 2007. Class rules including tires are typically revisited each year at the annual members meeting during which we vote on rule changes for the current year, e.g. 2008. During the recent meeting on Jan. 26th, the TaG tire rules were changes and the change is reflected in the class rules that have just been posted. When in doubt, always check the class rules.

Hope this helps.
