Noobie to karting

Post by Randy Bain » Mon Oct 16, 2023 1:47 pm

Hey all,

I live reasonably close to the track and was thinking of purchasing a membership and kart just to play on occasionally. Used to road race motorbikes many decades ago and miss the fun of going fast.

Have no desire to get in the way of anyone, just want to turn laps, probably during the week (I'm retired).

Your thoughts, pro and con, are most welcome. Also kart recommendations would be appreciated. No plans to race, but it would be nice if the kart fit into a current old fat slow guy class.

Thanks for your input.

Membership is easy and you can come to the track any time to get some laps in. Suggest you find a used kart or buy new if you prefer to start fresh without having to fix the previous owners mistakes. LO206 masters is a great class. The tires are evinco blue and dont wear as much as the reds. Slow novice racers are lapped on race days but seat time will make you much more competitive on race days. The ka100 masters class will be growing next year and you can get some x30 masters karts and motors pretty cheap these days. Enjoy!

Thanks for the reply Scott. The L0206 class looks like a good fit. Been looking around at different places. Some of the karts on Facebook Marketplace look a little unloved.

Can you suggest a good place to look? It seems a decent used L0206 can be had in the 2-3 k range. Is that reasonable?
