Re: Hello Yamahas, is anyone out there?
In Karting, the Yamaha KT class seems to be on the same level as Spec Miata is in SCCA as far as competition closeness, cost effectiveness, and overall fun. If you get a chance to watch SM in SCCA, take it! These cars are fun to watch. John Philips, Ara Malkhassian, and the rest of the 40 car field ...

I would love to be in on that. Perhaps we could all discuss ways to get guys started out in a low cost way. My first kart was 1800 and I made it competitive, my current one, 600 more and just as competitive, as we will see soon... I hope. But if I knew set up tips and tricks then, I probably would h...

Older tires and used parts.
Do you have any old parts taking up space in your garage? Old unusable clutches, drums, cranks, pipes, frame rails? Got any scrub tires nearly corded or even blown tires? I'll take those paperweights off your hands. I'm building some racing related art from actually destroyed or unusable parts. I ma...

Gary did you plan on still coming out to run yamees? I know you were considering it a while back, what ever happened to that? My brother, Steve Hesketh, recent poster KJ Kreiter, myself, and the already established Books, will be the protagonists this year. I know of a couple that might join us too,...

I agree. I have been trying to organise a charity race as well. Perhaps a racer teams up with "non racers" from representing organisations, like the benefiting charity, and each sponsor as well as certain vips. But the enduro is the idea I get a real light bulb about. I already know a couple guys th...

I like the idea. I would only ask what type of enduro? WKA or IKF? Are you talking about 30 to 45 minutes, or talking hours? I'm in either way. At TWS or Cresson, you run only 10-15 laps. At Katy, you could probably run 40 laps in a 30 minute enduro, and maybe 50 or 60 in a 45 minute enduro. Now, an...

On the note of class familiarization. I plan to be at every race running my Yamaha. I had a jackshaft on it, and there was a lot of doubt by fellow competitors that it should be allowed. The argument is that the jack shaft, or Bully Clutch set up is not an axle clutch per the Yamaha Lite rules. It c...

KJ I'm glad to see your enthusiasm. I am projecting Yamaha Lite to be a stronger class than the most recent years. It took me a while to be able to road race and sprint race in one year, so I expect to have tremendous fun out at the track again. I would like to get a head count from Yamaha people th...

Spec Tires
Where can one look to for supplies of spec tires? Is there anyone around town with enough tires to warrant it being spec? I know that 3g supplied the mg yellows, but is that also the supplier for Bridgestones? Or does each member have to find their own supplier, or order from a catalog? The catalog ...

Yamahas to Katy
I have spoken with a few people that will run some races in Katy this year. I have some ideas to help kart counts, but I will not be able to be at the track as I work from 10 am to 6:30 pm. I hope to relay my ideas to someone who will be there. Can I get a response form one who can speak for the Yam...

You know, for those who complain. I am trying desperately to get my Yamaha cleaned up and in perfect condition to help put on a show. However, if it does not work out, I will probably still contribute to the award fund and just work a corner or help marshall the race or something of help. Everyone w...

I considered beginning a sort of school for newcomers. I did not know where to hold it. I would love more people coming into Yamaha classes. It is probably the best bang for the buck in Katy. Kid karts or micros I guess they're now called, are great but YOU don't race them, and I hear nothing but co...

My very first race, there were about 8 yamahas, Craig McLain, myself, Joe Dilger, Scott Weir, and a few other guys I did not remember, I believe Phil Miller, Ian and Oscar. I was able to finish 2nd and was ragged afterward. But it was awesome. After that, it was lucky to see more than 2 guys. On a f...

28th is good for me as well. I'll turn laps on either of the days, whether the day is a race day or not, lol. But the 28th sounds like a good ring in the new year deal, or "race in the new year." possibly bubbly (fake for kids) for post race stuff. (not serious at all) I love cold and I love racing....
