New kid karter at GCKI

Post by Jean Michel Gaston » Wed Mar 21, 2012 8:38 am

Hi,

We finally took the plunge, and bought my 5 year old daughter a kid kart. We've been working a little bit on braking in our garage, but as you would expect, she wants to go out and just drive. ;)
I'm going to bring her out to Katy on Saturday for the first time.

I will appreciate any tips you can give me on how to teach her how to drive safely. She knows how to steer and accelerate (we obviously are not going to let her out with full throttle available), but given that she is 5 and very stubborn, remembering to brake when she gets in a jam is my biggest fear.

thanks in advance!
Jean-Michel

I keep telling Kade the same thing about the brake, "it's the most important thing".

We plan on some track time Friday early afternoon. I want him to get a little more time before Sunday.

I'm not sure how textbook (or safe) this is, but I'll jump in front of him when he drives in the parking lot where we started to hopefully get him prepared to react quickly. I haven't been run over yet.

I also had him stop in the middle of the long straight at the track.

Good Luck and hope to see you at the track.

Kenny

Thanks Kenny. Good luck to you well. My daughter won't be racing yet his Sunday, but maybe in a few weeks time.
