Kid Kart Comer Engine Too Tight To Spin by Hand

Howdy all. Jerry Davis here. We moved from Katy to Boerne and are now racing with the ruffians in New Braunfels But some super nice new concrete there, for sure. Anyway, Lukes kart stalled on him about ten laps around and would not start. Took him home, tried her the next day and it ran fine for five minutes but died again. I removed the engine, removed the plug, muffler and pull-start assembly and that crank is still very tight. I use vise grips to turn it and it is smooth (no sticking or grinding), but it is still tight.

Fuel was properly mixed.

I'm thinking split the case and see if it is still tight w the piston exposed. That would indicate bad bearings. Might want a new/used engine.

Any comments?

You should be able to turn it by hand if everything is off of the motor. Shounds like when it heats up it wants to lock up, Bearings.

did you pull the clutch sometimes the springs will break and hang up in there it will run but not good makes it hard to turn over aswell if it gets locked up in there.
