Race 3

Postby Scott Boone » Sun Mar 07, 2010 11:23 pm

I counted 66 entries. I believe that is a record number of entries for a gcki club race. Congratulations GCKI, great race day!

I noticed 59 on the practice monitor, but after counting on mylaps saw the 66 as well. That is a really good turnout for the club.

On that thought, and for lack of a better place to post this idea, are the hash marks on the runners placed at 10 ft. intervals to serve as "pit markers"? After the pit work is completed and we hopefully wont have to deal with going mud bog racing to get into the pits, should we all make it a point to try and utilize the markers as our pits a little better. For these first three races so far there have been people pitting against the southern fence. Granted I don't really have a good solution as there isn't a "Pit Policeman". I know the size of the rigs these days makes it tough to move around in the space we have. Even if you place your canopy beside your trailer and use two places at least use the marked places.

I know it's a first come first serve situation so if you sleep in or live an hour away you might be out of luck but it's just an idea. Crunch in a bit and get to know your neighbors, get in some practice for SWRC since we will be packed in for that (hopefully). Okay, flame suit on blast away. :)

I agree. We were late yesterday (9:15) and the place looked packed, however there were many open spots up front and in the middle. (Thanks to Joplin for guiding me into one of those sweet spots up front!) I'm there late after each race so I don't mind waiting until everyone has cleared out to leave, but many like leave quickly and load up the end of the pit runners leaving the middle open. This is not a problem when the space between the pit runners is kept open and everyone is not spread all over the place.

As a rule, nobody should be taking up 2 pit spaces by having a tent on the side of their trailer unless they have a bunch of karts and a big crew. Everyone should pull forward and have the tent behind their trailer. We definitely need to pack'm in better so we don't have people out in the sticks.

Once we have the grading done and the swamps filled in we can start retraining everyone on correct parking procedures. I nominate Brad Johnson as our first "Pit Policeman"!

Wait a minute, hold on there Bill!!! :) I knew I shouldn't say anything. I'm sure there is some kind of qualification that I'm missing to be able to accept that nomination.

By the way, thanks to Dave for stepping into the volunteer/interim Race Director job for the day.

Yes, Dave did a great job, too bad he is employed already! Jim Garvin kept the grid moving along too, thanks!

On the "Pit Policeman" nomination...I'm calling for a second. Brad, the only qualification needed is to realize a position is necessary and step up! I applaud your initiative and dedication to GCKI and and will support you in your new position. I'm sure a second to your nomination is forthcoming...

I Second the nomination, Brad has shown great interest in the club, and by his post has a very good understanding of what is best for the club. Brad brings to the club great deal of experience and leadership that will serve him well in this position.

Via con Dios, Brad

I acknowledge Mike Hewitt's 2nd (thank you Mike!). This concludes the nomination process. Now for the vote...

All opposed? (remember Brad, you can't vote  )

And about the TaG class, I think we really neet to enforce the punch cone rule more, and put the cone in the middle of the race track so if we do brakecheck eachother the guys in the back wont get spun or an un fair start. Sorry guys for puttin' the finger up there on the start of the last heat, just a little frustated with the start and the pointless wreck.
Did anyone get that on camera.......???? lol
